Tim and Jill North of Winchester's Joie de Vin brought a selection of small-producer French wines that never reach supermarket shelves: crisp Chardonnay and Pinot Gris from the Loire rubbed shoulders with Chenin Blanc, a Macon, earthy Marcillac, Côtes du Ventoux and an excellent Gaillac to finish. Members placed a substantial on-the-night order at attractively discounted prices.
