Chris Horridge of Altus Wines — experienced buyer, international wine judge and all-round enthusiast — inaugurated the Society's new home at the Moose Centre with eight English wines, heavy on sparkling and light on pretension. The flight ranged from a Hambledon Classic Cuvée that had the room reaching for Champagne comparisons, to a Lyme Bay Pinot Noir that genuinely impressed on its own terms; the unspoken question of price-versus-patriotism hung pleasantly in the air.
